Orbotic Systems has licensed the SMART Solar Sail from NASA. Erik T. Long, President of Orbotic Systems, announced, “Orbotic Systems is quickly taking steps to put a product in orbit that can reduce, rather than increase, space debris. The SMART Solar Sail is one facet of a system, that can maneuver spacecraft and orbiting hazards out of the trajectory of active mission profiles. The SMART Solar Sail can also be applied to other aspects of space travel without the use of propellant or conventional rocket thrusters.” Orbotic Systems has included the SMART Solar Sail into a three-year development and execution plan.
